Meet the Rivals

  • Benedict Kennedy-Cox is a travel and comedy writer with words in Crafty Pint, Time Out, Australian Geographic and his travel beer website Benny Sent Ya. With a specialty in craft beer Benny has created and starred in two video series, Reviewery of a Brewery and Benny Sent Ya! He is a published children’s author, professional satirist and Katie’s boyfriend since 2014.

  • Katie Anne Morfoot is a Sydney-based allrounder who freelances in PR and social media where she gets to profit off her sickening love for all things planning. She directed, produced and featured in Benny’s series Reviewery of a Brewery and Benny Sent Ya! Planned vs Rogue is Katie’s first series as an official co-host since she became Benny’s personal photographer in 2014.

How does Planned vs Rogue work?

Two travellers.

Two days.

One city.

After arriving in a city Benny & Katie each take each other out for a day that emphasises their particular style of travel.

Katie’s planned days are months of research and scheduling coming together. Long before the plane touches down Katie has consulted reviews, forums and travel guides to create her (ideally) stress free day out. Museum tickets are already purchased, she’s across the local cultural customs and as per the competition rules, she must account for every minute from morning coffee to dessert.

On Benny’s rogue days, he steps out the front door, starts walking and figures out what the hell to do from there. His inspiration could come from something he saw on TV as a kid, a song about the destination or tip from a friendly (or not so friendly) local. Not only does Benny want to achieve spontaneity by not planning, by competition rules he is not allowed to plan.

Then, after each has had a day to experience the city their way, Benny and Katie will drink, deliberate and decide who did it better - Planned or Rogue?
